You may have seen media stories such as an article in 2019 on ABC News, about solar being a flooded market with a bad reputation. It reported that “close to 700 solar companies have gone out of business since 2011, leaving about 650,000 Australians with no recourse if their systems fail.” As is with every industry, there are some solar companies doing the wrong thing, causing our industry’s reputation to suffer.
At Cardinal Solar we are different – we don’t skip on quality or workmanship. We put the equipment on your roof (or possibly ground) to last. And we back our products 150% but in the rare occasion that something does go wrong, we will do everything in our power to replace the equipment or source a better replacement. All of our products have been tried and tested for many years, and we only use products that we believe are the best and will be in business for the full lifetime of the product warranty. Check out our blog “Why use Cardinal Solar” to find out about the warranty terms for each of our products.
It is not only about the quality of equipment. A solar company can source the most expensive panels and inverters but if they are not installed properly, there can still be issues. Over the years I have worked on fixing existing solar systems (installed by other companies) and found that cables haven’t been installed correctly, and cabling has been left all over rooves. I make it a priority to invest in training for all my staff, to ensure that every solar system installation is completed to the highest standard. We have Clean Energy Council accreditation for both design, installation and are a Master Electricians and Solar Cutters member.
Solar installations which have not been completed properly, combined with low quality equipment can also increase the risk of solar fires. Cheaper products are often of lesser quality and are more likely to break down or fail. This, combined with inexperienced installers who are more likely to make errors, can be a recipe for disaster. At Cardinal Solar safety is our utmost priority so we will never cut corners with installations, and while cheap equipment may seem attractive, it often ends up costing a lot more in the long run.
Unlike many solar companies, our approach is to focus on quality and substance before paying for celebrity endorsements. I invest into safety and training, to build the industry now so it lasts well into the future. As the media has shown over the years, there are solar companies that do the wrong thing, ultimately ending up leaving customers stranded. But there are many more that provide exceptional service and products. Our goal is to lift up the industry and keep it thriving for many years to come, by working hard every day to do the best job possible for every customer.
